Beaches around Samui

Bophut

Bophut is a trendy and up market town on the northern part of Koh Samui, full of old Thailand charm and innovative Samui style. Bophut is home to Fisherman’s Village, a quaint inner village exhibiting the island’s French and Chinese past, with bakeries, boutiques, cafes and shops, the most romantic of island settings. Chaweng Beach

Chaweng is home to the largest and most popular beach on Koh Samui, full of life, energy and entertainment. Lamai Beach

Lamai offers the second largest beach and entertainment area on Koh Samui, with a slightly older fashioned feel to Chaweng, plenty of bookshops, coffee places and bars. The beach is spacious and less full than Chaweng, and you can book your excursion from the Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa reception. Lamai beach is ideal for an afternoon out.

Lipa Noi & Taling Ngam

Quiet and remote. Very few tourists, you’d normally have the beach to yourself.

Big Buddha

Named after the 12 m high statue on a tiny islet connected to Samui by a causeway. Very quiet with calm waters. There are a few restaurants around the temple. East of this beach is Choeng Mon which is remote and quiet.

Maenam

Secluded but with coarse sand. It continues for 4 kms along the coast with several small restaurants. Also some dive and windsurfing centers.

Nathon

Nathon is the administrative capital of Koh Samui and a haven of low cost, unique Thailand shopping. Glimpse a real Thai town and take part in the culture of the island with a walk around the easily navigated streets. Relax at the port, from where you can take a ferry to the main land, and enjoy lunch at an authentic Thai restaurant.
